When you are building a website, your goal is to create an effective marketing message that will reach the market you are trying to sell your products and services to. While you are determining the design aspects and the content of the website, it is important to keep in mind what phrases you want to focus on for search engines.

What is a Target Keyword Phrase?

A target keyword or keyword phrase is a word or phrase that you want your website to come up for when somebody types that phrase into a search engine. For instance, if you are a painter located in San Diego, you want someone to find your website when a consumer types into Google to search phrase “painter in San Diego.” If your website text does not have that phrase anywhere on the site, then your website will not come up in search results.  You need to determine what keywords you want to rank for and then make sure your web site content has those keywords listed.

Create Your Lists of Keywords and Cities

Your job is to come up with a list of phrases and cities where you want to come up in search results. So we advise creating a list of keywords or services that your business provides and then another list of cities and regions where you are targeting your service. If you then combine those two lists, you need to make sure you have a page on the website for every combination of those phrases. That way, if somebody types in a keyword phrase with your service and a city that you are targeting the odds are that your page on your website with that combined phrase may come up in a search result. The more pages to come up in the search result of a tease you have of getting clicked on and generating traffic which will result in more I balls in your website and possibly more leaves and sales.
