Nowadays, with the Internet and cell phones & communication tools, it is possible to not only work from home but grow your business the comfort of an office or extra room in your house. However there are pitfalls and problems working from your residence so you need to make sure that you are able to follow simple rules to be successful. Following is a list of things to take into account and/or ti focus on so you can be successful from working from your house.

Have your own space

In order to be productive, you need to have a dedicated office space in your home. This can be a separate room, an open space with the desk, or other area that is only for your work. If you think you are going to be able to be productive sitting on a couch all day you might find yourself watching TV instead of getting work completed.  Ideally, this space will have a door you can close so you can tune out the kids or other noises outside your office.

Set Up Specific Hours

Another important thing is to set up a specific hours that you were going to work. While at home there are temptations to do other things to make sure that you have o’clock and you stick to a schedule that you set for yourself. Otherwise again you might find yourself doing other things besides work if you cannot stick to your own schedule. It is important that you inform your significant other or children that during those hours you are not to be disturbed.

Dress Code

I would recommend a dressing like you would dress for work. Sitting around and trying to work in your pajamas all day can be difficult and can also make you lackadaisical.

Working from home can work for you, but there are many distractions including your wife that can take you off task very easily.  Focus on your work and make clear to everyone that you need to work and cannot run errands or other tasks and it can work great for you.
